Six Sigma to Go
  Exciting, Interactive, and Fun

Six Sigma To Go SM enables an organization with Green Belt and Black Belt training already in place to spread the process improvement culture further and deeper, faster. Participants learn a variety of essential problem-solving techniques in an intense one-day workshop, and they leave the sessions equipped to tackle problems of relatively low complexity without the need to attend courses requiring a week or more of full-time attendance.

Why Six Sigma To Go SM?

Many companies using Six Sigma find that there are day-to-day problems that do not lend themselves particularly well to formal Green Belt projects. However, applying Six Sigma problem-solving methods would be a big help in diagnosing and eliminating these problems.

Or, a problem is dealt with but no one feels responsible for asking why it happened in the first place, so the underlying causes remain and the issue surfaces again and again. It’s just that the people tackling the problems haven’t been equipped with the right skills to prevent the problems from recurring. Or don’t feel confident enough to tackle the causes. Or don’t feel they have the authority to take on eliminating the problem.

Six Sigma To Go SM  fills this gap by providing large numbers of staff with versatile quality techniques that can be used for solving problems in small teams. It uses the DMAIC structure to ensure a logical approach, but with a limited set of simplified tools that can be understood by everyone in the company. And it establishes that the company supports continuous improvement at all levels.

The breadth of potential applications for this approach means that it is not only a valuable technique for continuous improvement – it becomes a key part of the culture change necessary to make quality a part of everyone’s daily work.

Energize People in One Fast-Paced Day

Six Sigma To Go SM  training occurs over one fast-paced day. Participants experience the power of the tools and techniques presented in a customized version of Rath & Strong’s Famous Courier Simulation SM. After the first round, everyone has a sense of what the problems are, but little idea of what is causing them. In the next rounds, as each technique is taught, participants have the opportunity to apply it in the simulation and to work out where the process is going wrong. Finally, they work together to devise improvements, implement them, and run the simulation again to judge the effectiveness of their solutions.

The techniques covered in this session are:

  • Problem Description
  • Flowcharting
  • Time Series Plot (using a simple Excel tool)
  • Brainstorming
  • Generating and Selecting Solutions
  • Voice of the Customer
  • Pareto Chart (using a simple Excel tool)
  • Process Analysis
  • Cause & Effect Analysis
  • Reacting to Control Charts
  • Voice of the Customer (VoC)

The day also includes a presentation of the organization’s Six Sigma initiative and a Six Sigma To Go SM  Case Study. These sessions give the participants a sense of perspective on the day, and demonstrate how they can use their newly acquired skills to solve the everyday process problems they face and to further the Six Sigma effort overall.
