RATH & STRONG RELEASES

"ANOTHER CRAZY IDEA?"

Lexington, Massachusetts (July 9, 2009)Rath & Strong LLC, a global leader in business process improvement and operations consulting, in partnership with Cox Comics, is pleased to announce the publication of Another Crazy Idea? – a Lean Six Sigma “attitudinal comic” that is targeted at front-line workers.

The comic is the latest addition to Rath & Strong’s suite of publications, which includes the WALL STREET JOURNAL’S best-selling Rath & Strong’s Six Sigma Pocket Guide.

“The market is saturated with publications on Lean Six Sigma, but there hasn’t been anything designed specifically for front-line workers – even though they play a critical role in the success of any Lean Six Sigma implementation” notes Dan Quinn, President and CEO of Rath & Strong. “Another Crazy Idea? fills that gap with something new and different that will grab the attention of this often-ignored group of stakeholders.”

The goal of Another Crazy Idea? is to build front-line worker commitment to Lean Six Sigma. It uses visual storytelling to positively affect reader attitudes. Though it introduces basic Lean Six Sigma concepts, the comic is not intended to be a manual of tools and methods. Rather, it is designed to encourage front-line workers to give Lean Six Sigma a chance and play their role in the initiative.

Unlike other Lean Six Sigma publications, Another Crazy Idea? is accessible to all reading levels. The tone is light, humorous, and irreverent, without being condescending. It acknowledges worker concerns about Lean Six Sigma and uses realistic dialog and situations that readers can connect with. “The comic is built around the psychological principles of change” explains Mary Federico, VP of Organizational Behavior at Rath & Strong, and the author of the comic. “As such, it can serve as a key element in an organization’s change/ communications plan.”

The comic is illustrated by Gary Cox, a Director and LSS Black Belt for Canada Post Corporation. Readers of iSixSigma Magazine and iSixSigma.com will be familiar with his popular comic strip, The Cox-Box.

The Manager of Employee Engagement at a national airline had this to say about Another Crazy Idea?: “I couldn’t put it down. I found it really simplified the [Lean Six Sigma] concept and was an easy read to say the least. …this would go a long way for those who think Lean [Six Sigma] is ‘another crazy idea’ enforced by Management.”

Another Crazy Idea? is available for purchase on Rath & Strong’s web store. Bulk discounts and government rates are available.
